For B-K Lighting+TEKA Illumination, Lightfair International 2016 in San Diego is the culmination of a multi-year campaign designed to support the launch of our Inspiration Control System™ iOS app, alongside our Bluetooth enabled Denali Series™ now featuring Color Tuning Power of 'C' and Nite Star™ featuring Adjust-e-Lume® Power of ‘e’ technology, winner of the 2015 LFI Innovation Awards. This combination gives lighting professionals wireless lumen intensity and color control right in the palms of their hands.
So how do we in fact end a campaign as big as this? We head to Lightfair of course, and invite the King himself… Elvis, straight outta Blue Hawaii, to entertain!
Employees found a new place to dwell in their Hawaiian shirts and leis as visitors from around the globe inspected the amazing fixtures that adorned booth walls. Specifiers who had yet to see our Inspiration Control System™ demonstration were invited to learn about the products onsite and be immediately entered into our Blue Hawaii Giveaway! Along with this demonstration, attendees also learned about the newest optic for both B-K and TEKA! Soon to be released are the Surface Mount Alpine II and TEKA's very own Large Beacon Pole Mount, both featuring the patent-pending batwing optic and equipped with none other than the Power of 'X' technology!
On Tuesday night, B-K + TEKA treated sales representatives and specifiers to dinner with a view… in the San Diego Bay. Hosted on a private yacht, with mai tais and appetizers upon boarding, guests were treated to a Hawaiian style dinner cruise complete with performances by Heali’i’s Polynesian Revue and Mr. Blue Hawaii himself, Elvis. Following our “three-hour-tour,” the cast and crew of this floating luau headed back to their hotels to rest for another big day on the tradeshow floor.
Wednesday morning, B-K + TEKA gained early access to the San Diego Convention Center to host “Breakfast with B-K.” Joined by Elvis and the Halau Heali’i, Breakfast attendees enjoyed a reception fit for Hawaiian royalty before B-K + TEKA’s National Sales Manager Ryan Berrios took the stage, thanked our reps for their hard work out in the field, and discussed new product development. Following the Chief Cheerleader’s morning kickoff, Lighting Manager Justin Perez spun the raffle drum and selected Rachel Bauer (below, left), of Illuminations, Inc. as the sales representative winner of our Blue Hawaii Giveaway! Though not in attendance, her fellow Illuminations team members proudly accepted in her honor. Ho'omaika'i 'ana Rachel!
That evening, B-K Lighting+TEKA Illumination proudly hosted two tables at the prestigious International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) Education Trust Benefit Dinner + 33rd Annual IALD International Lighting Design Awards at the San Diego Air & Space Museum. It was, as they say, the most glamorous event in the industry, and our congratulations go out to our hosts and winners.
Our last day in San Diego was certainly not the least. Another busy day on the tradeshow floor included Elvis in the booth, our 3rd Hawaiian Happy Hour and the long awaited specifier Blue Hawaii Giveaway. And the winner is… (drumroll please)… Shannon Kowski (below, with long lost boyfriend Elvis) of Dark Light Design, in Seattle, Washington. Upon learning of her envied win, Shannon summed it up perfectly..."B-K makes dreams come true!" Ho'omaika'i 'ana Shannon!
