B-K Lighting Products Featured in World Architectural Festival Top Design

Madera, CA - November 10, 2008 – B-K Lighting would like to congratulate the architectural firm of Hotson Bakker Boniface Haden for receiving a top award at the recent World Architecture Festival in Barcelona, Spain.

During the three-day festival held this past October, Hotson Bakker Boniface Haden took First Prize in the Holiday category for its design and development of the Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre in Canada.

Sitting on a 1,600-acre parcel of land belonging to the Osoyoos Indian Band, the Nk’Mip Desert Culture Centre
is located in the most endangered landscape in Canada. Its design is a specific and sustainable response to
the building’s unique setting - the spectacular Canadian desert located just south of the Okanagan Valley in Osoyoos, British Columbia.

"Consideration for the affects of artificial lighting on the sensitive natural habitat was critical when determining the outdoor lighting for the Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre," said Brady Dunlop, Project Architect for Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre. "We wanted a discreet fixture that could endure the extreme temperatures of the desert environment and define the outdoor public spaces around the site. The B-K Lighting Square Step Star™ was
selected for all cast-in concrete landscape wall and bollard locations, as the simple form and effective light distribution lent itself to the nature of the desert environment and aesthetic of the project."

In addition to the Square Step Star™, the Nk’Mip Desert Culture Centre also features additional B-K Lighting fixtures including Lite Star™ strategically positioned to illuminate the main entrance sign and Bollard
Star™ located along the entrance to the complex.

These fixtures were specified through SLS Group Industries/Light Resource, Inc., a B-K Lighting sales
representative office servicing British Columbia.

In addition to the WAF Award, Hotson Bakker Boniface Haden has already received several acknowledgements for this project including the 2007 RAIC Award of Excellence for Innovation in Architecture.
